Credit Card Application Rejected? Here's what to do.

Learn what to do and how to get credit despite your credit problems and learn to rebuild your credit rating

Millions of people everyday decide to apply for a credit card. Many of those people will have their credit card application rejected. For some, it can be devastating. Having a credit card means that you have the ability to purchase what you want when you want it, and when your credit card application is rejected, it can be very demoralizing.

Rejection

When your credit card application is rejected, you most likely will be upset and want to speak to someone to find out whey it was rejected. Most credit card companies will tell you why you were rejected in your rejection letter. It can range from not having enough household income, to having too many maxed out credit cards already. There really is not too much you can do if your application is rejected, however you do have certain rights when it happens.

You do not have to have bad credit to be rejected for a credit card; you can be rejected even if you have no credit. A credit card company can reject your application for any number of reasons.

It may seem like an unimportant reason, however your credit card application can be rejected for reasons such as an unverified telephone number. Other reasons for denial is that your balance on other cards is too high or if you have applied for multiple credit cards at the same time resulting in denial. Many people do not realize that every time you apply for a credit card, it is posted on your credit report. Credit card companies are very cautious whom they approve.

Know your Rights

It is important that you know that you have rights when it comes to credit card rejection. First of all, you have the right to know exactly why your credit card application was rejected. It could be something as small as mixing up your social security number. When you are using an online site to apply for a credit card, you will get an immediate response. You will be notified as to why you were rejected. You do not have to have bad credit to be rejected for a credit card; you can be rejected even if you have no credit.

Second, you have the right to request a copy of your credit report free of charge with every credit card rejection that you receive. It is very important that you take advantage of this offer. Look at your credit report very carefully and make sure that there are no errors on it. If there is something that you do not recognize, contact the credit-reporting agency for their procedures on how to remove it from your report. This process is not as easy as it appears, it can take awhile to process. However, it is something that you want to do if there is something suspicious on your credit report.

Don't Complain

Knowing what to do when your credit card application is rejected can assist you in the long run. It does no good to call the credit card company and shout at the employees, they have no control over who is accepted and who is rejected. All that does is to get a note on your file that says you are rude and irate; then no one will want to talk to you. Figuring your credit score is all in the numbers, and is calculated by computers.

Credit card application rejection can be devastating to anyone. Often times, just cleaning up your credit can increase your score and increasing your chances of being approved for a credit card. Apply for a prepaid credit card to help you get by.
