My family needed a simple way to enter our daily expenses and have it give us the "big picture" of our status for the month.  We didn't want anything complicated or require us to "tally" things on the calculator before entering them.  We came up with a simple excel spreadsheet that automatically updates what's left in each category for the month.  It will also allow you to see your total picture, for the whole month.

Because it's in Excel format, it has the added bonus of being able to adjust your budgeted amounts on the fly, in case you spend some extra money in one category and have a little breathing room in another.  Tip: If you want to add a line for a category, just right-click, Insert Row.  Completely customizable!

Remember - we created this for our needs so feel free to change it and make it yours.  If we make improvements or changes to it, I'll be sure to post the new version here.  And please, if you have any suggestions, let us know!

Traditional Budget Form

If you don't have Excel or would like a less "techy" way to budget, here is a simple family budget form that will allow you to budget effectively and easily.  It's a more common and simple form that lists expected and actual expenses and then the difference between the two.
